Strengthening Approaches to Mental Health in aid of Pieta House
January 5, 2018
I am delighted to have this chance to help spread the word on Mental Health and Wellbeing – maybe bust a few myths, and give fitness professionals some facts and information that will support them not to be afraid of saying the wrong thing, either in their professional roles, or among their own friends and family.
Niamh Connolly is a busy Cognitive Behavioural Therapist based in Dungarvan Co. Waterford. As a result of a never ending waiting list, and rising demand for CBT, she has developed a series of workshops and seminars based on the scientifically proven CBT protocols she uses in her work, as she teaches clients how to overcome a variety of mental health issues.
In an informative, but informal style, Niamh will help us understand how Anxiety and Low Mood happen, along with demonstrating the clinically proven skills and techniques that overcome them. Her aim is to demystify mental health struggles – as she says “our mind is our most important muscle” and she wants to share the best exercises to keep it fit and healthy!
Niamh will teach us on topics such as:
How we think – the Neurology of Thought,
What we Think – Cognitive Distortions, or Thinking ‘Sins’,
Anxiety and Mood Disorders Explained.
How to Reframe our Thoughts
Managing Unhelpful Behaviours
Daily/Weekly Habits to Promote Wellbeing.
There will be special guests to tell their own story and of course some tasty food to keep us going.
This will be suitable for anybody who deals with clients one on one or in groups to help identify and deal with mental health issues and you will also learn some tools and behaviours to keep your own mind in top shape!
Ticket sales will cover some small admin costs, with the majority of the ticket sale going to Pieta House.
